Thanks for the link. I hadn’t kept up on the problems that Blu-ray was having on HTPCs or how they are trying to resolve them since I don’t have any plans to use Blu-ray for some time.

Thanks for the link CV, thats a well written article. It confirms what I wrote here a while back based on a 2005 MS white paper I found. I didn't realize that 'protected path' was a euphemism for decription and re-encription.

It looks like there is just not enough room on a graphics card for all the hardware needed for all this de-re-encription stuff.

I bet the hardware vendors are as or more pissed off at holywood as we are!
