I've just purchased and recieved the Epic 80/600 and an Axiom 1400-8. I could bearly contain my JOY at recieving this equipment. I connected my M80's, my VP150 and my EP 600 Sub to my Sony 5300ES reciever.(just waiting for my renovator to come and fish the wires for the QS8S). I immediately relized i needed an Audio/Video Processor. So the hunt began. I noticed Anthems D2. Specs look amazing. Suggested is 6600 dollars Canadian. First, what is the real world price? Has anyone purchased the unit for less? Secondly, is there any other product with the D2's features that is a little bit more price friendly to a Family Man? With four Kids...and a Wife.

Suggestions?
You dont need a processor. Just run rca cables from your reciever's "Pre Out" jacks into the A-1400 and your done. That is, unless you WANT a processor vs using your reciever. But It probably wouldnt be worth the money to go that route.
Video processors seem to only really come into play with large large screens (like 90" front projector screens) with low quality signals like DVD. For HD material/games/movies there doesn't seem to be much of a need for video processing. Anyone can step in to correct me if i'm wrong here, but it seems the returns are not great for the investment
The Integra DHC 9.9 might suit.

Or maybe the Rotel RSP-1570. How about the NAD T175?

Lots of people adore the Denon 3808CI Receiver. But - unless there is something it doesn't DO - there's really no reason to ditch the processor in your Sony.
mmmm, 1400-8. Must get the amp, must get the amp, must get the amp /* slap */ Oh yeah. I live in a condo! ;\)
i did run RCA to the A1400-8. I found the the options with regards to the audio offered by my 5300ES were limited. the sound did improved with the A1400-8, but i wasn't able to adjust Midrange. i am sure the D2 handles that better. As long as i have HDMI 1.3a to handle the XV color, video is okay. I am sure a slight improvement from the D2 will also be visable here.

thank you for your reply.
Why are you wanting to adjust the midrange? It is best if you leave all tone controls to neutral/flat position. You should be able to use your Sony as a preamp for the 1400 just fine.
