As to the sub, the Amazon sale on the Energy ESW-10 that was linked would be excellent, but I note that it states that it can only be shipped to the U.S. Checking the individual site of Beach Audio, one of the Amazon sellers listed there that's reputable and ships to Canada, I found that the full price, including shipping, would be about $298CAD.
Stereoguy, if you are around Ottawa but I would look at something like

The Energy sub sure seems like a steal... 10" woofer and 400 watts!
You could always stick some money aside and start saving for an ep350
Or buy a less expensive TV and get a more expensive sub!
Before I got my Hsu I picked up a 12" Dayton sub. For the $130+ that I spent it was a pretty solid sub for a small home theater room. The nice part of it was that 2 years later I sold it to a college kid for $125 and spent the money on my Hsu.
