Well I just arrived home from work to find a note under the front door mat. It's from FedEx, the EP500 has arrived I just have to wait another hour before I can go and pick it up.

I must say though, I am amazed again that it didn't take long at all to get here. Ordered it last Friday and it's here today, well done Axiom!
It's amazing that I can order something from half way round the world and it gets here in a few days. I order something from the east coast and it takes over a week to get here.

Well I'm off to amuse myself for an hour

No doubt I will have some questions later on.

Well it's here \:\)

The box was a little damaged but a quick inspection after opening and everything is ok.

One thing that I am a little disappointed in, is the electrical cable. It is for the US I assume, two prongs and the third is round. I would have thought it would ship with that countries cable?
After seeing that I had a horrible thought, would it work on our power supply? Hopefully all I need is an adapter plug.

Here are some pics,

Congrats Graeme! I think a big thank you should be in order for Fed Ex as well, as they are the ones that actually hauled that beast ;\) .

I wonder how many adapters or cables Axiom would have to have to account for all the different countries they ship to? Not a good thing for Axiom, way too much stock and money invested and if they happen to ship the wrong one, more wait time etc.

I think it would be nice if they mentioned that you would be responsible for any power adapters required for your area though, unless they do and I missed it.

BTW, the round prong is the ground, or earth as it is called else where.

Yes it would have been nice if they had mentioned that.

I sent an email to Brent just to make sure it will run ok on our power supply, Hopefully everything will be ok and all I need is an adapter.

Very nice Graeme. I hope the adapter works and soon you will be shaking the walls in your home. Enjoy.

Congrats and good luck with the adapter.

Canada is 120v, according to this site http://www.kropla.com/electric2.htm you are 220V, does the sub have a 120V/220V switch?

Yes, Axiom subs do have that switch. Graeme - check out the manual for the details, under Step 5.

It can be easily removed and turned over to set your EP500 or EP600 to 220 volts from the A/C line. See diagrams on the next page. The EP500 & EP600 come with a three-prong power cord compatible throughout the United States and Canada. Residents of other countries will need to purchase a converter/adaptor or the proper power cord that fits your specific socket.

You're all set once you get the plug adapter.

The manual only states 120/220, we are 240v? I think I should be good, otherwise Axiom would not ship it here. I wonder if the cable from my old sub would work? It has the same connection into the sub.

220/240 basically the same. kind of like 110/115/120.

Graeme, as was mentioned, saying 220v isn't significantly different from terming it 220/240v. Be sure, however, to make the switch to 220v on the back of the EP500, as the manual shows, before you turn it on.

Adaptor plugs for the three square prong Australian outlet should be available for a few dollars, but your old cable should be able to carry all the power necessary. The only possible problem might be if the Axiom cable is shielded to reduce outgoing interference created by the type of amplifier used and if instead using an unshielded cable would allow interference to affect other units nearby.

>>but your old (AC) cable should be able to carry all the power necessary.

Good point - if the power cord on your current sub is removeable then just borrow it for now.

The port on your new sub is bigger than the woofer on your old sub. That's a good sign ;\)

Thanks guys, I sent Brent an email but he has not replied, maybe a little busy.

I managed to get and adapter, I thought about using the old cable but decided against it, it may be wired differently for all I know and I would prefer to use the cable designed for the sub.

Now if I can just get some time to plug it in and play with it.

Where are your priorities?!!! I could have swore you said you were sick and needed some time off to get better, the Axiom flu affects just about everyone.

I'm trying to fight the "Axiom Flu" for two more days, then it can attack me for 2 whole weeks

Hi Graeme L,

Be sure you flip the voltage adaptor to the 220/240-volt position before you connect the power cord and turn on the EP500.

Alan
