I have previewed the Paradigm Studio series. I was looking at the 60's in front and the 20's for the surround and rear. I also previewed the Energy Connossieur c-9's for the front with the c-3;s.

My question is unfortunately I cannot preview the Axioms. I was looking at the 60's for front and the M22's for the surround and back.

For those who have looked at the three why did you choose what you did? Obviously the Paradigms are the most expensisve. Are they worth it?

Axiom seems to be a great deal but I cant listen and know little about the company.

Thanks

I have the M22ti's, and did an A/B comparsion at home with them vs. the Energy C-3's. Here's are my thoughts.

Pro Axiom: The Axiom M22's were clearer, and cleaner sounding than the Energy's - by far. There were notes of music that sang out clearly with the Axioms that were buried way in the back when listening to the Energy's. They cost $100 LESS than the Energy's.

Pro Energy: More low end. The bass response from the Energy's was much deeper. (Though it muddied up the rest of the sound) The Energy's are a beautiful looking speaker. Of all the speakers I looked at before finally purchasing, the Energy's were by far the best looking. Fit and finish is really top notch. They even have the very clever magnetic grills. Though the Axiom's aren't what I'd call ugly, they certainly don't hold a candle to the Energy's in the beauty dept.

Conclusion: If you want CLEAR, CLEAN music, go with Axioms. If you really want sexy looking speakers with plenty of low end (for a bookshelf speaker) go with the Energy.

Hope this helps a little.

Let's also not forget price.

I believe the Paradigm Reference series is approximately twice the price of Axiom speakers for an 'equivalent' speaker in terms of rated performance. The axioms are also more efficient speakers, there easier (and cheaper) to power.

I was considering the Home Theater Magneplanar set up but it would have been about $3300.00 for what I wanted. The Axiom Grand Master System is what I ordered (today) for $1500.00, I have not previewed the Axioms either but I will know what they are like very soon.

Headphone,

the grand master is an excellent choice. I would have preferred the VP150 buyt the VP100 is still an excellent center channel.

What receiver will you have these hooked up to?

a late question

Why the VP150 over the VP100?

Thanks

I'm pretty new to this high end audio, so forgive me for not using any jargon or being very descriptive. I'm just a music enthusiast that can't spell and has trouble figuring out how to program a remote. Anyway, when I was shopping for speakers, I listened to B&W, Paradigm, Boston Acoustics, McIntosh and JBL. Out of all of them under 5K, it was a toss up between the B&W 703's and the Paradigm Studio 100's. Both were at different shops, so I couldn't go from one to the other to really compare. But those are the two that just seemed to call to me. I didn't want to put down 2400 or 3000 for a set of speakers, so I started looking at Axiom and Onix. Lot's of folks compared the sound of Axioms to B&W, but I don't know if I'd buy that, entirely. Similar, but definitely different. I bought the M80's and if I had to compare them to anything, it would be the Studio 100's. I think the 100's have just a touch more base, but that's probably just acoustical differences of my home vrs the store. Plus they were running them off high dollar McIntosh and Rotel stuff. I have a Harmon/Kardon 7200. I suspect that's a big factor. I have no regrets with the M80's. They sound great and crank louder than my neighbors a couple streets over can stand. Plus, with the 1300 bucks I saved, I'm buying a sub and new mega changer to go with them.
