Saw this article today:

What do you all think?

Have been noticing more manufactures coming up with dual woofer subs as Axiom (soon to come) and JBL.

A 10" woofer is going to have a hard time reaching really low.

I think what Axiom is squeezing out of their 12" is exceptional.

Now This is a big(er) sub:

Dual 15" high excursion drivers in an 8 cf sealed cabinet.

You wanna bet those fish just swim in circles biting their nails?

I'm skeptical that a 400 watt amp and 2 ten-inchers are going to come anywhere close to the extension and volume of the EP800. Without specs listed for that sub it's hard to know for sure, but just from what little is listed, it seems like a long shot.

I'm with you. Where are the specs? The nearly $3,000 price for a sub with a 400 watt amplifier seems laughable.

Hey CoolJ92 stop teasing with the thread title, I thought this was a chance to win one of cv's two EP-800's \:\)

That's pretty far from the 12-150hz +/- 1db mentionned by Ian. The EP800 rules! I'll eventually have one... eventually... (when I can install it in a house).

Thanks for the link CV. 20Hz seems about right for a high excursion 10" driver.

Heck, even my old sub reached to 21hz, just not with any authority. Now that I have it back I should hook it back up and do some REW graphs with it. \:\)

It might be an interesting experiment Jay. When I did that with an old sub that was supposed to get to the low to mid 20hz range I found that it really dipped starting around the upper 20s.

I know not everyone here likes emotiva(I do \:\) ) but their soon to be released dual 12" sealed subs with 1000+ watts and unmatched Equalization might be great. Just the fact that their are two subs give you more options for placement to smooth out response--- vs one single monster.
Posted By: CV Re: Competition for the EP800 - 01/25/09 04:16 AM
Yeah, that's why you get two monsters.
Posted By: fredk Re: Competition for the EP800 - 01/25/09 05:13 AM
Well, some people anyway. I tried, but they wanted both of my kids. The ex objected. Some people...

By the way, why is it unmatched if it's equal?

Now Axiom is going to get sued because you guys used the word monster on the forum when not directly related to Monster cables.
