Hi all, I've decided to upgrade my living room before continuing on the bedroom HT. Here's what I have in mind, because of limited space and cramped working quarters.

37 inch LCD.
2 W3 (Wall mount)
1 W100 (Wall mount)

The house is a tri-level and behind this wall is another floor 40 inches up. I tore out a secion of the wall below this in the downstairs room to get access and the highest I'm able to reach in order to install the W100 center speaker is with the center of the speakers 26 inches up from the living room floor. There is a header board above this and no visible access. (I had to drive a long nail through the wall from down below so I could find the height in the other room).

The reason I had to do it this way, is so I can remove a center stud in the way of installing the speaker centered with the tv. There is a floor between the center stud the tv will mount to and this one, so they are not connected.

Whew. So my question is, is 26 inches up going to be too low for the center channel in a living room?

Whew, indeed!

A little hard to follow the sequence without pictures...

I really think you'll be just fine. How close to the TV will you sit? If you're more than about 6' away, I think it will be okay.

Another option would be to get a VP100 and a FMB so that you can aim the speaker a bit.

I sit about 9 feet away at about a 30 degree angle. I would rather use the in wall for all 3 speakers for a more uniform and tidy look. Going with black oak so they will match the tv. The wall is painted "clay pot" that's kind of orangish red.

When I'm done I'll post a picture. But it probably won't be until sometime in January.
