I have an old yamaha and an Onkyo that I use now. Both have the auto cal mic. I thought I had been using the correct one, but I was getting really terrible results. It had my mains running at +11 and the sub at another ridiculous number. I found the other mic and used it. WOW. it sure was a major difference. Both of the mics look very close to one another. I cannot believe how big a difference in the numbers I got. When I used the one that must have been the correct mic, all my settings made sense and you could definitely hear the difference. I know all this sounds like,.....WELL DUHH!!!, but I am completely amazed at the difference.

I believe you can interchange Denon and Onkyo mic's as they are both Audyssey and should be calibrated the same(providing they are from the same version of Audyssey) but Yamaha's YPOA is a different beast.

I'm glad the auto calibration worked for you and made things sound better, as it should.
