My room size is 15 feet by 16 feet with 8 feet ceilings. I currently have the Polk Audio RT800 floorstanders as of 6 years now and ready to upgrade. I have my choices between the Axioms M22's and M60s since I like detailed sound. I'm not sure if I should get M22s or M60 floorstanders. I'm also using a sub along with my polk floorstanders now and I'm just not sure if I'm gonna be losing any midbass going from floorstander to bookshelfs? What you think?

If you're concerned about mid-bass, then I'd definitely go with the M60s. While the M22s do reproduce mid-bass well, the M60s will outshine them by far.

The M22's with a good sub would work well. Your room is pretty small. How back is your listening area? If you can give yourself a good 10', then the M60's may be a better choice, but if you're sitting real close, you may like the M22's better.

I do like the M60's over the M22's, but I'm just concerned about your room size. What do the rest of you guys think?

While I do listen to alot of music I'm really using the speakers more for movies. I usually sit 8 feet away from the speakers and the speakers are 6-7 feet apart. I just like my polk floorstanders and afraid I might not like missing the midbass if I happen to have my subwoofer off for music. How do the M60s sound with subwoofer?

How do you know? Hmm?

In any case, why listen to music without the sub? If you will definitely be doing this, I'd go with the M60s, but you're still going to be missing stuff that the sub would/could be reproducing.

You haven't described your sub, but as Ken indicated, a good sub shouldn't "happen" to be off for music. It's just as "musical" as any other speaker when properly set up and just as necessary. The M22s plus sub(which would be primarily responsible for the 40-80hz mid-bass)should work very well for you.

Ok, my subwoofer is the Infinity Sub 2 which a friend gave me for christmas last year and it plays nice and sounds nice. Probably not as nice as HSU and SVS and such but at least it was free and I plan on upgrading sub in future. I play the sub for music as well but sometimes have it off when I have company or when my roomie is home or in sleep to keep the bass down. My current polk rt800s have tweeter, 6.5 mid, and 6.5 midbass and I'm just not sure whether I should do M22s which have 5.25 mid/woofers or do m60s which is similar to my polks with little more midbass. My first speaker choice was gonna be Monitor Audio Silver S8 and now I'm hearing about these axioms and not sure which way to go. So its gonna be either Monitor Audio or the 2 model of Axioms depending which sounds the best for music and movies.
