I just saw the Axiom video on turning the center channel on the beveled side (to angle it up). But the video shows the person rotating the tweeters 180deg. Is this necessary for aesthetic reasons or does it affect the sound?
Looking at the speaker itself, I can't imagine it would affect the sound quality.
Does it matter?
The video is under Articles, Video, Center Channel Placement (last one)
Thanks
It does, turn it around.
Don't ask.
Believe me.
Thanks Randy.
That shoots my credibility right out of the barrel.
I thought about posting that Rick but didn't want to hurt your feelings. LOL
It definitely went longer than I had expected.
You Ricks are always 1 and 2 in my book.
I'm not number 2.
Ah, thank you for that. After looking at the tweeters, I figured it was more cosmetic than than anything else.
thnx
Rick, I'm glad you beat Rick to the punch, lmfao.
I already had that written but I'm not as mean as that other Rick.
Not really, Rick. I found Axiom's claim that it was for such a trivial purpose(in my view)as having the logo right-side-up to be rather curious. As I commented in the earlier thread, some tweeters(e.g., see measurements at Stereophile)have different dispersion above and below axis. Your impressions may be correct.
Turn the tweeter around. Turn it upside down. It improves the percussion.
Krunch, that's what has been going through my head every time I saw the thread title!
Scary!
It was either that or... eek!
this one...
Curious claim? Do you believe that Amie lied or is not knowledgeable about the products? If she did not know all she had to do was ask Ian. She has probably known for years. I wonder how many emails she gets ever week asking her if it matters.
Axiom made a public statement about their product. Your hypothesis is based on "other speakers" and is not backed up by any measurements on Axiom speakers that you have read about or performed yourself.
Perhaps this thread should be titled “Venus and Mars”. From a technical point of view there is no need to turn the tweeter over; it will sound exactly the same either way. What struck me as so funny about this post is we have all the guys wondering why in the world you would bother turning your tweeter over only for the sake of not having an upside down logo. And then we have Amie and Debbie who probably would have turned it over even it made somehow sound a bit worse. Very Funny!
It's true, very amusing, and certainly says a lot about the female vs. male sensibility.
With Amie and Debbie, it's all about appearances.
My former spouse used to buy me gorgeous designer clothes. I didn't want to know what they cost, and I hate shopping for clothes, so it was a great arrangement.
Now I really don't care what I look like, so long as I'm covered up.
Alan
What if you turn it sideways? Or 45°?
Whats if I orders a small tea??
What if you turn it sideways? Or 45°?
Then you would have everyone puzzled.
Whats if I orders a small tea??
"I'd like two small teas upside down please."
Perhaps this thread should be titled “Venus and Mars”.
Then it would need a
new theme song.
And what a good theme song!
Ian, thanks for the specific info. Yes, attitudes do differ. I'd never dream of doing even the minor surgery which Debbie demonstrated on my precious speakers for the benefit of the logo.
Does turning the tweeters 180 also apply to the vt150?
It would. I see no point in it if the grill stays on.
cosound,
You could turn the tweeters around on a VP150 if you want to. It's purely an aesthetic choice, if you use the speaker without the grille and want the Axiom logo to appear correctly, not inverted.
There won't be any difference in performance.
Regards,
Alan
Thanks Alan!! After 39 years with Ma Bell and knowing something about sound, my slide rule couldn't find a difference either! ;0) Thanks again!
Ma Bell? Oh oh. One of my favorite WKRP in Cincinatti episodes was when Johnny and Venus thought the phone police were coming to get them.
I think Chi Chi Rodrigweez liked that episode too.

SHHHHHH, Don't be giving away my secret identity.
and yes, that episode was hilarious. Especially after the bomb went off.
"I tried to tell you man, these phone cops play hardball!"
