Hmm, as someone who has had some past experience in this area, perhaps it has something to do with the vocation they chose? The problem is(and it has never changed)that the entertainment business is loaded with far more than its share of "manipulators and bloodsuckers" who take advantage of, in many cases, not particularly bright but perhaps talented and very insecure people who often just make bad decisions.
