Ok, so I'm finally replacing my old Sony KDS 50a2000 with a Panny 60GT50 which will allow me to move my center from above the tv to the AV stand which will be below the tv after I mount it on the wall.
My next upgrade, I'm thinking, will be to replace my VP160 with the 180. Will it be ok to pair the 180 v3 with a pair of M80 v2's? I would assume so, but curious since cross overs have changed between versions. Thanks.
I went from the VP150 to the 180 v3 with M80 v2's and it sounds great. Go for it you will not be sorry you did. The difference between the 150 and the 180 was night and day but I can't speak for the 160.
When i first got my 180, i had M60ti's V1.0 if you will... The drivers are pretty much all the same. The v3 has a different crossover, but the drivers are still the same. So, with that being said, the 160/180 will go with all Axiom products.
Some argue that the 160 is "better" than the 180... i don't have an opinion on that... I would say it would only be worth upgrading if your only going to be out a couple hundred bucks... Do you plan on selling your 160 on the auction site to off set the cost of the 180?
I would say if your paying full price for a 180 it would not be worth going from the 160 due to the marginal difference in performance between the two speakers.
Thanks Dakkon, I think you've talked me into using the $$ to upgrade something else, like my receiver (would like to incorporate front height speakers).
How tall are your walls? i would research height speakers prior to purchasing....
I don't know much about them, so i can not give you any advice.. Other than do some research
my 180 works fine with my v2's
V, that's probably a good decision, especially if you're actually talking about the VP160 and not the VP150. It's highly questionable if that should be considered an "upgrade".
A receiver with more up-to-date features, such as additional surround channels and better room EQ would be a better choice in my view.
Pics to follow sometime around 9/3 after the new tv is delivered and I hang it.
