I stumbled across a great deal on a couple of configurations but not sure which will give the best sound for my environment.

Need help with which of the following configurations will sound better in a 12' x 16' basement home theater:

4 M1ti's, a VPZero center and the old CTS-100 sub or

2 MZero's, 2 QS2 surrounds, a VPZero center and the EP125 sub

Source: Yamaha RX-596 receiver
Usage: 80% DVD 5.1 viewing, 20% 2-channel stereo

Any advice would be appreciated...thanks very much...
Where did you find the M0ti and the M1ti? Axiom no longer makes or sells them.
I'd get bigger speakers, they will REALLY fill your room better.

I'd go with:

2 x M2i (or 4 x, if not QS4's in the back)
1 x EP175
1 x VP50 or 100, or another M2i
Thanks for the input but my budget will only allow for one of the two configurations I mentioned, the rest of my budget was put into the front projection system...
How about just buying the fronts for now then. Hold off on rears, center, sub until you can afford what you want, instead of ending up with a speaker setup you probably won't be happy with in the long run.
ajks,

if you have a projector, then keep saving. Those little speakers will give you small sound with big picture - a bad combination.

Start with good fronts, save, get rears, save, get a sub, save, get a center. Or whatever order you want.

Alternatively, to save $$$ you can search for used speakers at www.canuckaudiomart.com

good luck!
I agree with this approach. You will end up spending more money on upgrades later if you try to immediately complete your gear with speakers that might be "too small" for your application. It may take a while to complete your system but when you are done you will be satisfied.
