Hi,
I'm a total newbie even though I've owned a pair of M22ti's for 8 years now. But with the advent of the LFR1100 I was wondering how many amps are needed to drive these if I want to add them to a 5.1, or higher theater system.

What if I just want to use them as a stereo pair 2.1? How many amps are needed?

thanks!

you will need a total of 4 channels of amplification to power the LFR's...

the number of amps can vary.. if you got a single 7 channel amp, that would cover a 5.1 surround sound setup with the LFR's.

or, you could get a 5 channel amp and a large 2 channel amp to drive the front speakers on the LRF's...

however, if you are going to have muptiple amps powering the LFR's they need to have the same Gain. which, is one of the specifications that is usually clearly stated in the manual for almost all amps.

for my 5.1 system with. LFR's, i have 3 amps. two 2 channel amps and a 3 channel amp.

The fronts and backs of the LFR1100s have to be provided with their own amplification channel. So a stereo pair requires four channels. The easiest way to figure out the needed channels for any number of speakers when including the LFRs you need two additional channels above what you'd need otherwise.

So, the next question is... how much of your money do you want us to help spend...?
