I was thinking about purchasing either Harman's DPR 1001 or AVR 525. Any thoughts as to which one is better?
I know a few here have the 525. Not sure if anyone has the 1001. You might want to venture over to Hometheaterspot.com and check out the HK forum for more info and comparisons. I love my 525 fwiw.

Thanks Frank,
BTW what set of Axiom speakers do you have? I was thinking of gettering the M3ti or M22ti booshelves along with the QS8, VP100 and EP175. Any thoughts?
if i were you, i'd get:
M22's
VP150
QS8
HSU or SVS sub. if you want Axiom sub, either EP175 or 350 is good.
OK.
So I bought the Harman Kardon AVR 525 today. I was set to purchase a set of speakers from Axiom. I thought I would read up a bit more and looked around the net. I came across a shitty review on CNET. It was rated a 6. It was the first average review I came across (aside for Axiom's subs). What gives?
I've got a refurbed 525 with a pair of M60s. Only had them a month or so, but I love the H/K and the Axioms.

I can't seem to get to the review for details, but it was rated a 6.
What speakers were in the review? I don't think CNET is the best source for speaker ratings, regardless. Why trust them more than sites dedicated to reviewing audio?
Then again, consider the system: Axiom's low end. We all know (my previous incorrect comments re the tweeters notwithstanding) that the VP100s don't really match the M3s, right? Also consider what they thought was good: Klipsh. Need I say more?
Also, they seem to denegrate music lovers as somehow "inferior" to HT aficionados. Geez...
The c|net reviews on audio gears are about as good as, well... those in Consumer Reports. They rate the Klipsch, Onkyo, and [gasp] Bose speaker packages among the top.
We should be VERY glad that the Axioms didn't score too high there, because they were too "musical"! LOL
I've got the M22, VP150, QS4 and a Adire Shiva based DIY sub. Couldn't be happier.
Frank
I would not put too much weight on the CNet review. They rate the Aperion setup very high. It is a nice setup, but nowhere near the sound quality of Ascends or Axioms in my opinion.
I must admit though, I have not heard the M3Ti.
