I have gotten the EP500V4 connected and working. The issue is that in my room it sounds very weak and shallow.

Where does everyone else place the sub woofers?

I am suspecting that I need to corner load the sub. So point it at a wall or actually against the back wall facing away from me. Does anyone have experience with these subs that could suggest better placement in order to get a good sound out of this sub?

I sure would appreciate any assistance from some of you more knowledgeable home theater experts.

I cannot imagine that this sub should not sound as good as my old Polk RTI-90 tower speakers, which is what I used for bass before.

Blatsi-
First, make sure that your settings are correct on your receiver for Bass Management and on the subwoofer itself...i.e., the crossover filter isn't engaging.

As far as placement goes, try the Subwoofer Crawl.

Something is wrong somewhere; the EP500 should be blowing you away unless you live in a small stadium! smile

In addition to the volume levels, make sure to adjust your "phase" switch as well.

Thank you guys. I like that crawl method. Never even thought of that! I have already checked all the settings and phase.

But I kept getting tired of moving the EP500 around, so the crawl method looks like the way to go.

I was going to put my sub (EP175 at the time), front and center under the TV. Seems logical. But after doing the sub crawl, the best location ended up being near either the left or right side wall, about 4 feet back. Since then, I've placed an EP350 and an EP500 in the same spot with excellent results.

I cannot thank you all enough.

Placing the driver parallel with the wall and having it fire into the corner of the room was the sweat spot.

THX again... now if I can figure a way to keep the pictures from falling of the walls:)

Am I the only one that thinks this is even remotely a little odd?

+1 agree with CatBrat

Usually a sub in the corner will make it "boomier" and overly loud. The corner reinforces the sound waves , but with ever so slightly different response times to the listening area with makes it less precise (a bit boomy/muddied), and then louder due to the sound waves "stacking" on top of each other coming out of the corner.

Then again, if he likes it...
