Hello, I recently purchased the VP150 to compliment my home theater. Any suggestions on settings? I currently have Martin Logan Aerius as my mains and Logan Depth as my sub. I know settings are subjective I just need a general idea.

Can you elaborate on what you mean by settings?

I found the best setting for my center channel speaker was to put the side with the grill outwards to the room, rather than facing the wall.

all joking aside, there really isn't any settings on the actual speaker per say to setup. I personally have mine on an ikea TV stand under my wall mounted TV. I moved it to the very front of the stand leaving a good 8" away from the wall. Don't know if it makes any sound difference. it just looks better that way, and can't be bothered to see how much worse it is sitting further back.

Settings such as the blending point to compliment my mains. My receiver allows me to adjust the center channel. Gotta love the Canadian sense of humor. Lol.

Yes, my receiver allows various settings such as volume, distance, etc. So far, it's been trial and error. However, the results have been good. It is tough to have the sweet spot more than any one given place.

Sgt., that is the one thing that we here all know, but that our spouses/significant others can never find out. An Audyssey, or some other surround set-up system helps, but there still remains just that one spot. Shhh!

Most people use either a tape measure for distance and then adjust the center channel up or down as they need, or auto-setup/calibration from their receiver/processor such as Audyssey to get things tuned in pretty close.

Whether I am using my current VP180 or when I was using my VP150, I let Audyssey do a full calibration, and then just bump up the center channel a few dB manually. This is for 2 reasons. 1) The most important audio in a movie comes through the center channel, 2) I never want dialog to be overpowered by the effects field created by the front left/right and the surrounds. (gives movies more "punch" to have the center a little louder, and my wife has minor hearing loss, so it helps her enjoy the movies more as well)

The combined ideologies seem to work the best. The calibration mic running a full cycle then, manually tuning did the trick. Thanks, Axiom Nation.

Depending on your system. Audyssey should flatten out any nulls you get in the mid frequencies. If you find that dialog is getting drowned out and your system supports it, look to add a bump around the 200hz as that will help amplify most dialog without bumping up the special effects that are outside of that spot.

Thanks for the advise, Oakville. I have decided to relegate my Martin Logan's for two channel music along with sub. I found my old Klipsch's a lot easier to blend with VP150. With an old pair of AR's for my rears, 5.1 sounds great for Blu-ray movies.
