It's definitely been a few years since I've been on these boards or posted, but I'm looking for a new receiver.

Has anyone had any experience with the new Onkyo TX-NR757? This looks like an awesome receiver, especially considering its price point. I was also looking at the Denon AVR-X3200W or X4200W, but they are way more pricey. Any comments on how well the blue-tooth and wifi work on these models?

I'm not opposed to spending $1500 on a receiver, but I see no reason to when a $700 Onkyo will provide the same feature set and wattage. Though the Android remote app looks like a nice feature for the Denon.

I'm powering 2 M80s, VP150 and 2 QS8s. I do an even mix of movies and music.

My current Onkyo TX-SR607 is in the shop with a faulty hdmi switching board. No other issues with it for 6 years, but just demoting it to my game room with new Orbs. I need to move the PS4 out of the living room and the current Onkyo is going with it to another room.

Hi: I'd look at the Yamaha RXA-2050 or the 1050...I'm currently considering the 2050 or a Anthem mrx-720 myself....using a similar set-up as yourself (upgrading to a VP-160 in the next month or so). I currently have a Yamaha RXA-1000 from 2011 no problems at all!!!Happy shopping & good luck!

Shag, welcome back. Of the units that you're considering I'd definitely suggest the Denon X4200W. Although in previous years I most often gave Onkyo an edge over a comparable Denon model, this changed when Onkyo downgraded their room correction processing from Audyssey to a cheaper and less advanced in-house AccuEQ system.

The NR757 doesn't have the same feature set and power as the X4200W. The X4200W features the highest grade Audyssey MultEQ XT32. Also note that the 180 watt number sometimes seen in advertising for the NR757 isn't an "official" power rating under the legally required FTC amplifier regulations. That number is at 6 rather than 8 ohms, at 1KHz rather than 20-20KHz, and with only 1 channel rather than two driven. The FTC number is 110 watts. The FTC rating for the X4200W is 125 watts.

An excellent buy for the X4200W is the factory refurb(which, if anything, should be even more reliable than a brand new unit)from Accessories4less for about $900.

I picked up a Marantz SR7008 there in the ballpark of $700 and am loving it. It is powering a 9 speaker Axiom setup beautifully, with vicious dynamics, including the 4Ohm m80/vp180 center trio. The unit was absolutely indistinguishable from new stock.
