I'm in the process of redoing my small 14'X14' TV room. It's primarily used for watching movies and TV. I currently have Ascend Acoustic Sierra 1's as my fronts and a matching Sierra 1 center. My sub is a SVS PB1000. I'm looking to replace my rear surrounds (HTIB Polk6700 Sats). As you can see, I've been slowly upgrading my speakers from the original Polk HTIB. My surround sound system will be 5.1

The issue is....our new sectional will be positioned along the entire back wall and partly along the two walls. I won't have any room for matching Sierra's on stands to be place at the corners or behind the couch on the back wall. My original rear speaker configurations wasn't idea because the person sitting on the corners would get blasted by the sound but the people in the middle wouldn't get the full effect of the surround sound.

Can anyone recommend a good solution to my problem? I've been reading about bipolar/dipolar speakers and wonder if I'm the perfect candidate for this type of speaker? If so, would I put them on the corner walls or on the back wall? And how high from the top of the couch? Should them be centered on the wall or closer to the back?

I can post a picture of the walls but not sure if there's a way to upload photos in this forum.

Thanks for all your help!
If you have a place that you host your pictures online, you can put an image tag in your post to include a picture. In the "Forum Help" section at the top right of this page it will show you how to add an image.

For 5.1 technically you really shouldn't have rears, just side surrounds if your room allows for it. The Axiom surrounds are very forgiving on placement. Are you able to mount on the side wall or ceiling? If that is not an option many have had great results mounting near the rear corners or rear wall if that is the only option.. Keep in mind the Axiom surrounds have a bottom firing driver as well...

Photo didn't display... picking through the URL, is this what you were trying to show ?

I'm thinking QS4's on the side walls a few feet forward of the back wall, maybe 5-1/2 to 6 feet high, just enough that people don't hit them with their shoulders.

FWIW I have a pair of Sierra 1's in my living room... *very* nice speakers. Still hoping to listen to Sierra Towers some time.

BTW is the dark lump on the sectional clothing, bedding, small dog or large cat ?

Thank you for your response. This picture shows the other side of the room. Keep in mind there will be an end lounge section on the right side too. Just waiting for it to be delivered. You've confirmed what I was thinking......QS4's on both side walls.

Thank you. BTW...no cats...I think its my kids blanket and headphones. Thanks again for your help.
Ah yes, it looks much less cat-like in the second picture smile
