Speaker location, especially the surrounds, is often challenging in the real life, but non-optimum home theatre enclosures. My own works pretty well for the centre channel (Axiom VP150 v2), the left/right (Axiom M22 on-wall), and the sub-woofer (PSA V1801). But I cringe at locating the surrounds. The angled ceiling on one side really throws out an option of side location. The best I can think is on the rear wall below the wall mounted light fixtures. I am tending towards either the Axiom QS8 or QS10. Speakers are powered by an Anthem MRX 520.

Any thoughts or opinions are always welcome.

Thanks,

Allan.

I don't recommend rear-mounted. Our ears are rather insensitive to sounds from behind. I've tried QS8s, QS10s and M3s behind me all with poor results.

I lived with QS8v2 for 12 years and I am very, very glad I switched to QS10s for the sides. My QS10s are located 10' away from me and they are great performers.

Also I lived with a VP150v2 for 11 years. The VP160v4 is far, far better.

I am very surprised with how much I was missing with my v2 compared to the v4.

That looks like a tough space, but perhaps wall mounted on one side and on stands on the other?

Or, since you have your LCR mounted high (and I assume angled down?) the surround could also be mounted on the downward ceiling slope and angled at the listening positions.

While far from ideal placement - but really only a few have those options unless building from an unfinished room - you could then adjust levels of the channels to be balanced in terms of output.

In a 5.1 system, your surround speakers are best placed to the left and right of your listening position. Aim them directly towards you for the best sound. If side placement isn't practical, place your surround speakers a few feet behind your listening position and face them forward.
