Hey all - I've got a deal in the works and I'm pretty excited about it, for an EP800v4. My main question and I don't seem to be able to find any info on google is what is the difference between V2, V3, V4?

I had for a long time an EP600v2 and loved it, the tone and character of the bass was amazing! But didn't like the brick wall at 20Hz and am very excited to hear (feel) how deep the 800 can go!

Man, finally!!! Geez, it took you a darned long time to make up your mind. LOL! Same here though.

You are going to LOVE the 800v4. So glad Axiom helped me punt that 600v2 out of my place. I know you liked yours but sorry...just does not compare to the sealed 800. I have two 600v4 on the way, BTW.

I would be in trouble if I lived near Axiom, and probably divorced by now.

Exchanging the 500 for a 600. With the size of my room I'm going to need subs and more subs.

I'd like to get 2 500s up front at some point to replace my 350s, maybe stick them in the back and ditch the 600, lol Nah I still love the 600.

I have both the 500V4 & 600v4 ... the 500 is more than enough to fill the 3000 cuft space that it’s in. The 600 sounds pretty much the same in that room as the volume control gets set to match the system. If you have a big room to fill I’d suggest adding more subs before going to bigger ones. It will smooth your bass out. After that 600 and 800 all you want .... just realize that most recorded material just does not go low enough to use that extended low end ... (you may find your self listening to some pretty funky stuff to reach that low). And at that point you will Most likely only feel, not hear, the difference...

One more thing ...
Besides price the 500 has a big advantage over the 600 and 800 ... it’s smaller. It can work as a side table to your couch, fit under your screen, not get in the way of the LFRs rear speakers ... Perhaps better spouse appeal ... but you know your situation better then me.

Now that said I have 4 600s in the HT ...In the rear view I probably should have gone with the 500s and I’m Definitely happy I didn’t get the eights.

Canes, you need 500s and 600s. I really think you ought to try two 600s in the back and two 500s up front. When you get your 600, set it up on the rear right and your 500 on the front left. That should give you some nice, even bass.

I moved the 500 around the room to several locations and tried the subwoofer crawl but it never quite had enough umph. I’m probably expecting more than a single sub can put out but I now at least have a test mark to start comparing it to. I feel like two 600s up front to start or maybe even try it one in the back and one up front at opposite corners but I’m going to have to play around a lot to see what works best.

I could also carry everything upstairs to the smaller great room and see how much more sound I get.

Canes, trying your 500 in a smaller room is a great idea.

That'll be a "wife is at work" project this weekend.

Sweet. Working and contributing to the audio budget.

That would be nice but the audio budget comes strictly out of my pocket.

Are you the only one in the house who listens to audio?
Posted By: Canesfan27 Re: EP800 v4 - 10/21/20 06:17 PM
No, but I’m the only one who is picky about quality of sound. I also like it loud and dynamic when it comes to movies.

Well, OK, now we're getting somewhere. Some value needs to be apportioned to hearing sound and some value to hearing it loud and dynamic. Then the kids, the wife and you have to pay, somehow, for that value.

And, I will add, when they start appreciating it loud and dynamic, the payments have to be divided equally.

If it’s just me who enjoys it and pays for it then I don’t have to take suggestions on what to buy.

Or not to buy. laugh

Exactly.
