So I was putting in my m3 ceiling speakers and then something odd happened. I went to run audyssey and it was telling me my rear M2 were out of phase. I checked the wires and everything is fine, red to red black to black. They won’t play any sound except out of the tweeter but if I barely push on the mid range driver I get sound from it. I’m not sure what’s going on because they had been playing fine before today. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I plugged speakers into the rear inputs and they are playing fine, could something be wrong with the M2s?

If you changed the terminals and they work better it sounds like the receiver has a problem.

I wouldn’t think the mids blew on both speakers at same time

Just moved other speakers to their terminals and they play fine. Doesn’t matter which terminal I plug m2s into they don’t play through the mids

Took one down and hooked it up to 1500 amp and same issue. No sound from mid. I would think it’s a driver issue at this point

I had a spare 5 1/4 driver and I swapped it out and it is the driver. That’s crazy that both went out at same time

Holy cow. Loose wire connections. Got both working again

Loose internal wires

The one mid is dead no matter what I do.

Where is the looseness?

It was the woofer. Going to check the soldered connections. One woofer is dead. Not getting any resistance reading from it. The other looks like the wires at the connectors or possibly at the voicecoil are loose.

A blown mid-woofer is great news. Now you can rip it apart and see how it works up close.

Spoken like an engineer, Mojo.
I’d bet you accomplish that before you were 10.

I’ve taken many speakers apart throughout the years. Used to take apart car speakers in my teenage years

Glad you found the issue, unlikely it was the receiver, good troubleshooting !
