system will be axiom m22ti's, svs 25-31PC+, axiom QS8.

looking to spend under 800 dollars(US)
anyone have any personal expierence with this price class of recievers
currently looking at HK 525 becuase i am looking for Mp3 support.
also looking at hk 4000, and 7200 but will look at anything you guys suggest
There are numerous receivers, including the 525 that will be good for your price range. Actually, you can get a factory refurd 535 for under $600 shipped.

The Yamaha 1400 is also a godo pick. Denon 3803 can be had for $800 online(make sure it is an authorized dealer that is listed on Denon's web site, do NOT beleive the online dealer).

If you are looking at the 525 because of mp3 support, it doesn't matter. As long as your CD player can read mp3's, you are fine. The receiver needs nothing but the signal, which the CD player sends.

Bear in mind that even the advice you get on this message board is going to be biased by the posters ego (including mine). I guess that's why I had a lot of concern when I forst considered Axiom speakers in the first place, but am I ever glad I did take their advice...Axiom's are supurb! Now as to a receiver, I too had to choose and I guess the fact that I had a 17 year old Denon DR-555 and never had a lick of problems with it led me back to that manufacturer but I also considered tbe HK 325,525, the Onkyo TXSR-700 and the Marantz SR-7200. It turned out that the Marantz had too many bad reviews for my blood on AUDIOREVIEW.COM and even an un-named individual at Axiom steared me away from the Onkyo. Then I listened to the Harmon Kardon;s and they sounded bland to me (almost "elevator music"). So I went back to the Denon AVR-2803 ($560.00 US at E-tronics.com). No, it's not a factory authorized dealer but I'm extreamly pleased with the sound and features. Again, go and listen at a local reputable dealer and choose for yourself.....good luck and BTW, enjoy your Axiom's!

I got the NAD 752. You can get good prices on the NAD A/V reveivers since they will be coming out shortly with new models. NAD reveivers are known to be excellent for music. Mine sounds great with the M22s.

I feel like we answer the same questions every day. Look a little for an answer in the previous posts. There are tons of posts about recievers for your price range.

And you've only been on for 2 months!

Sorry, I have been around for a lot longer on other forums. I also have been reading this site for a long time, almost two years now, since I was first looking at Axioms. I bought my first, a VP150, in June of 2002. I just think that people can scroll down a little to see some of the previous threads about their exact same topics and get info without having to create a new topic.

Oh, I agree with you. (not to scare off the newbies).
i want to play mp3's off my computer, not from a cd

thats why i am interested in the hk's

anyone else tried 525?
what about the 535?
I play MP3's off of my receiver all the time. The signal is coming from my comp. I currently have a Yamaha 2090. Made in 1995. Before mp3 was thought up.

The source needs to be able to read MP3, not the receiver.

I've got a 525. I really like it (other than the remote, see my rants elsewhere) and I've never had a problem with it. You'll hear several people complaining about the fan (not owners, as near as I can tell), but I've never had it go on, and mines in a fairly cramped area.

That said, I've never used the MP3 decoding (it requires another module that translates from USB to Coax digital). I'm not sure if you really want to go this route, as music services/programs seem to be moving away from MP3s towards either AAC or WMA9. I'd recommend just running a minijack to RCA cable from the computer to the receiver. I doubt you'll notice any decline in quality.

As usual, my vote goes to the Pioneer 53TX/55TXi and Yamaha 1400/2400, with the MCACC/YPAO automatic room/speaker EQ.
