Hey Guys,
I need new left and right channel speakers. But I don't know what to go for. I'm sure a million people have wrote posts like this but here is another. I love watchin sci-fi, and horror movies, and I listen to mostly rock and metal. Which is better suited for someone who likes a full (CLEAN) loud sounding speaker, the m50ti or m22ti (or is it worth saving for the m60ti?)

Out of all Axiom's speakers, the M22ti, M60ti, and M80ti are the cleanest sounding. Since the M80s are out of your budget range, we'll not talk about those.

If you don't have a subwoofer and don't plan on buying one in the near future, you should definitely consider the M60s since they go much lower than the M22tis. It has been described that everything that's good about the M22ti, the M60s do one step better: wider soundstage, more precise imaging, and of course more bass.

If you already have a good subwoofer, then the M22tis could still be a great option for you. How large is your room, by the way? That can have a big impact on what speakers you decide to get. M22tis might not be the best option in a large room, and the M60s might not be the best for a small room.

just bought m60s to go with rvx2400 receiver.. hella nice.. should try those..

My room isn't very big, about 8 feet by 11 feet. (very cluttered) I have a sub a Kenwood 10" 150 watt, it's not very good though.

Yeah, for that room size I'd definitely go with the M22.

yea i agree with minirock in a room that size the m22's are deff the best option. you'll actully be suprised how much sound they can produce.

Most likely because they are not positioned ideally.

It comes down to a simple fact. It's the room+speaker that's boomy. Not the speakers alone.

Exactly! Whenever someone says a speaker has boomy bass I immediately think of the room and the listening position within the room.... it also makes me think of Cerwin-Vega/KLH.

Basically you want to be 10' or more away from the speakers when listening.

Regarding your receiver choice...If I went to larger speakers would the receiver you recommended still be adequate. Also what size speakers would be acceptable...I can get a max of 10-11ft away in the room.

If you can sit 10-11' away, you would probably enjoy the M60's a great deal.

Generally (though not always) a larger speaker actually needs LESS power than than a small one. Check the sensitivity/efficiency ratings of the speakers. The higher the rating, the less power the speaker needs. (You'll note that Axiom's largest speaker, the M80ti is actually their most efficient!)

Well on the Epic 60 system it suggests a room size between 2000 and 6000 cubic ft. Not only do have to factor in the distance between you and the main speaker, but also the distance between the main speaker and the front wall, and the distance between the listening position and the rear wall. There are some basic guidelines to follow when trying to determine how far into the room you speakers should be like distance of the main speakers from the front wall would be Height of your room x 0.618, and distance from the side wall to the main speakers is width of room divided by 18 then multiplied by 15. Seated position from rear wall is length of room (in inches) divided by 3,5, or 7. hese are like I said "general guidelines" that we used in the past in our custom installation dept. and even though ultimately it sounds optimal when using those measurements, speakers can be moved a little farther back or a little more to the sides if need be.
