Although quite pleased with my Axiom M80/VP150/QS8/M22 7-channel setup mated to a pair of Hsu STF-2 subs, I'm rethinking my initial decision to feed this audio armada via the 950/7100 combo.

I'm conflicted because the Yammie, a worthy competitor even on an absolute basis, becomes flat-out seductive on a relative basis with the $800 savings factored in. One last issue to chew on is the 22' x 45' room size the selected amps will be required to fill at satisfactory home theater listening levels.

So, with two weeks left on my 30-day Outlaw trial, I'm nearing the point-of-no-return and would appreciate the wise counsel of my fellow Axiomite's.

1. Which setup would you select to provide your audio feed?

2. What would you do with the extra 800 bones (to the extent you opted for the Yammie)?
have you heard the yammy in your home theater? if you can go to a store and buy it and if you dont like it return it.
if you have the money go for separates. eventually you will replace your reciever.
if you decide not to keep the outlaw, save the 800 bucks and buy yourself a nice projector down the road

That is a huge room.

How well do the dual STF-2's perform?

Anyways, I would keep the seperates. It allows you more flexibility down the road. I also think the 7100 power amp provides more real power than the 2400.

Another option would be get the 2400 and a nice 2 channel power amp for the M80's. The best thing the 2400 has going is YPAO.

Mortgage the house, get the 950/770 combination. Forget the Yamaha.
bc, With the M80's, I would stay away from the Yamaha.

Can't comment on the Hsus just yet since I received the first one only yesterday. Tomorrow night will be its premiere. The other is supposed to arrive within the week.

Since these have been purchased from CompUSA I'm a little skittish about the potential for seal problems that seem to have plagued other CompUSA STF-2 units. We'll find out soon enough!
Have not heard the 2400 yet as I wanted to see what the public opinion polls indicated before I got to that point. You and Curtis make valid points re the inevitable receiver swap.

Thanks for the feedback.

I got the Yama RX-V2400 and it rocks for my 12.5 X 25 ft room. Plenty of power and features. My volume was set to
-3.5 db and it's pretty loud.

I got
M60's
QS8
& VP150.

BC, the 2400 is a quite powerful THX certified receiver which should work well with the M80s and of course has the significant advantage over the Outlaws of the YPAO automatic room and speaker equalization. Also, don't worry about "hearing" the 2400; if it's powering a system several things will be affecting the sound, but the receiver won't be one of them, except to the extent that if YPAO was run its equalization would affect matters.
