Recently I have been combing audo related message boards in preperation of my first HT/ hi-fi music experience.

Here's how it went...

First I found a great deal on the marantz 5300 which I have had for a couple days now, and like quite a bit. Next I ordered a vp100 ( with hopes of purchasing the m22's soon to replace my old junky floorstanders ) Finally, I start reading the axiom board and have read nothing but, vp150, vp150, vp150. Did i make a bad purchase?

Joe, there are always tradeoffs in what one buys as new equipment. The vp150 may have some extended benefits in being a wider centre channel but the vp100 is still a quality item.
Don't remorse until you've heard it all first and can compare. Stick to your budget knowing you made a good quality purchase, period.

I have had my vp100 for a month now I can hear way more detail in the dialogue of movies and I like to listen to music in 6 channel stereo. The vp 100 kicked my bose in clarity and I had to upgrade to M22's. Which just arrived today. I have no wish to upgrade my vp100. It handles everything I can throw at it. I think the decision might need to be based on the listening area. It sounds like if you are going to be more off to the sides then the vp150 might be a better choice. I can't say that it makes a difference since I have never heard a vp150. My 100 seems to have a fairly wide range as I sit off to the side and the dialogue still sounds centered. Try the 100 and if you don't like it after a month you can always upgrade!

i just got a vp100 and really haven't placed it properly and its still sounds amazing. before i bought, i listened to a lot, did a lot of web research, and i've not been disappointed - even with my f'd up listening room and average/below average components it still sounds beautiful. i'll try to give more detail if ya want, but its 1:30am so i'm goin' to sleep.
