Well, I couldn't wait another second. Just ordered M60ti/VP150/QS8 in black oak. M2i rear surrounds to follow later as I don't even have a TV yet! HSU VTF-3 Mk2 sub also on order. Can't wait to get it all set up.

Well Congrats! I have some M60s on the way, and when they arrive I'll have virtually the same system. I have the HSU STF-2, and am completely satisfied with it. I'm sure you'll feel the same about your VTF-3. When you get them set up try to post some pics of everything. Around here we love seeing photos. We'll also be interested to hear your impressions of the Axioms.

Are you actually an ex pat Brit? I have some friends who live right on the ocean in Mawgan Porth, Cornwall. They actually have a palm tree in their yard. In England?

I ordered the same system, I'm sure we are both going to get a lot of enjoyment out of it. Stiil subless though.

as for palm trees in the UK

Dartmoor, Cornwall May 2002, on my way to the Scilly Isles.

Amazing! When one thinks of England, one does NOT think of palm trees. When you lived in the UK Ford, where did you live?

This will be a long weekend for you, but you are all on the verge of entering ear candy heaven.

Ford - you absolutely MUST get yourself a sub. I checked the manual and it says "when a guys retires and his friends pony up cash for a set of Axioms he is required to purchase a sub as soon as humanly possible". It's not just me - the manual says says so. HSU, or my preference of SVS, will provide you with an additional facet in your HT experience that you can't appreciate if you have never had a good sub.

Denon 3803 plus Axioms plus HSU sub minus TV. Hmmm.... Not only is it impossible for me to solve that equation, the "minus TV" part might be against the law. I'll defer to the opinion of Cap'n Pickard, as extensive legal research will be required here.

Ajax,
When I lived in the UK it was as a child in Burgess Hill, Sussex.

Two years ago I went back for a 3 week vacation that took me from London, to Devon, Cornwall and finally the Scilly Isles. The south-west of England is beautiful and totally different from what one would expect to find in the UK.

I managed to to visit Burgess Hill and found the house that my parents and I lived in almost 50 years ago. I even managed to talk to the current owner and got a mini tour of the place.

Ray, as for a sub, yes it's on my things to get list. If a pending deal with an EP350 doesn't work out I am seriously thinking of building one. I must admit I am not sure if I will ever use one for two channel music.

Yes, I am actually an Expat Brit. Originally from Chelmsford, Essex (40 miles Northeast of London), lived in Minnesota (near Minneapolis) for the last 6 years. The reason for no TV is that my basement based HT is not finished yet, and I can't decide what to get. I am looking at something around 50" diagonal, 16:9 ratio. Trying to decide if it is really worth paying an extra $1000 to $1500 (when you factor in a stand) for an LCD or DLP rear projector over a CRT based system. I will keep everyone posted on what I get, and my feedback on the Axiom/Denon/Hsu audio setup.

Thanks for the replies

Well (6 years late) welcome to the U. S. I hope you will overlook our flaws and weaknesses, and look for, and enjoy, the strengths and positives. Hope you'll enjoy your Axioms, also. New 2004 Samsung DLP models coming out over the next 6 months. They'll be carrying the HLP prefix. You'll find a lot of information about the 2004 and 2003 models, and models from other manufacturers, including some retail prices, here. Check 'em out.

Ford, thanks for the info. Neat that you were able to go through your childhood home. Get that sub!

I am going to officially hijack this thread until Brit recieves his speakers. Since we have some English people on this thread. I just thought everyone might want to know that I have an internship in London this summer. It will hopefully be an incredible experience, but I am sure going to miss my Axiom HT.

Anyone want to borrow them for the summer?

j/k

snippy,

I'll contribute to the hijack and congratulate you! If there's something I wish I'd done while college, it's doing an internship or studying abroad. Way to take advantage of the opportunities available to you.

Hey, Snippy, have fun in the UK. London can be a fun place (if you have some cash!). I rode the London Eye the other month which was a great experince on a (rare) clear summers day, I would recommend it. How long will you be there? Will you plan to get out and see the rest of the country? I would recommend the Lake District (near Liverpool), and the New Forest (South Coast) as 2 places to visit. Sometimes I still miss England, especially the whole pub experience!

Enjoy!
