I just ordered an SVS PC-Ultra, a 12m interconnect, and the black SVS plaque.

I couldn't take it anymore. First, you guys gave me a bad case of subwoofer envy with all of you going off about your fancy smancy subwoofers all the time.

Then, that Craig fellow had to show up and really make me feel less than adequate in the bass department. He's got more subs than I have socks for crying out loud. I'm suprised that the U.S. Geological Survey folks haven't been out in his front lawn with red spray paint marking the new fault line.

So... I blame all of you, but especially Craig for my indiscretion.

My final HT system configration is:

Mits 65909 65" RPTV w/Integrated HD Tuner
Mits DD-8020 DVD player
Panasonic RP-62 DVD player ("A" in the s/n)
Sony CDP-405E 5 CD changer (old)
Axiom M60s/VP150/QS8s (all in Maple w/black grills)
SVS PC-Ultra

I'll get a picture as soon as I get a decent camera.

Thanks to everyone for spilling what they know about HT on this forum. Your advice has made the process much more fun, and much less painful than it could have been.

Has anyone on here bought a PCU in the past few weeks? Is the 7-12 days listed on the web site correct?

Did I say "final"? I must be crazy. Mark's got me checking out that Marantz AMP, and I have been watching the SACD / DVD-A threads also. Oh well...

Though I'm not the least bit disappointed with my HSU STF-2, I think I have sub envy.

Enjoy, Michael.

Best line of the whole post...

Michael_A, did you get the SVS wrapped in wood veneer? That thing sure looks purty.

BigWill, I bought the PC-Ultra, which is the "evil water heater" black cylinder.

You're thinking of the SS cylinder, which is has that VERY nice looking wood veneer on it. That one is $700 more than the PC-Ultra, and needs an external amplifier.

I was tempted, though.

I ordered the pb1-isd on 4-12 and it was delivered today! Can't wait to get home and put that baby through its paces. Hopefully it will make a wonderful .1 addition to my Axiom 6.0 setup.

Let us know what you think about the PB-1. I've got one and couldn't be happier with it.

As soon as I clean up the cable nightmare behind my components I'm going to post some pictures of my setup. I might have made the Axiom wall of fame but since I returned my EP350 to go with the SVS sub I don't have a complete Axiom setup any longer.

I came home from work and checked my email.

Houston, we have a tracking number ! The PC Ultra will be delivered on Tuesday.

I can't wait! When my first ever sub arrives, I will finally be able to watch a movie on my big screen in full, glorious, 5.1 sound! I can't wait to hear the Avia guy say "LFE" out of something other than the left front M60.

Well I hooked up my new SVS PB1-ISD on Friday and enjoyed it for about 30 minutes until it blew up during the playing of "Master and Commander". It now has a lawn mower sounding rattle down the whole low frequency field. Hopefully SVS tech support will remedy the situation.

More to follow.......

Their customer service is reputed to be excellent. I don't think you'll have any problem........beyond the one you already have, of course.

There's a good tip for anyone looking to give there surrounds & sub a workout - Master & Commander. I watched it last night and it was an orgy of sound evelopment. Creaking floorboards, crashing waves, rain pouring down, cannonballs whizzing overhead - it was fantabulous!

Hmm - How come I haven't heard of this movie? I assume it's on DVD? If so, how long has it been out?

Michael - shock mount the china ware!!!
Posted By: Ajax Re: SVS on the way! - 04/26/04 07:32 PM
DJ,

It came out on DVD last Tuesday. It's the one with Russell Crowe as the captain of the HMS Surprise. It's set in the late 18th or early 19th century. It's a "guy" flick. Worth seeing and, as noted above, a great sounding movie.

No worries, mate.

I'm single, my job keeps me very busy, I'm remodeling the house, and I have a girlfriend.

The china hasn't seen the outside of a box in 2 years.

Enjoy the Music.

I'm sure the music will be lovely, thank you.

According to UPS, my sub has been in town since 4:41 this afternoon! I am working from home tomorrow just to be sure that I'm here when it arrives. I don't think that I'll be getting all that much work done...
