Pics of my HT - 05/08/04 03:42 PM
In reply to:Although it looks like it, my HT is in what used to be our living room - not the basement. The dining room has become our "mini HT", and the "eating space in kitchen" is now our dining room. It sounds awful but if you saw it in person you'd like it!Makes me want to decorate my basement.
In reply to:We're in Arizona and the house is about 50 years old. The bricks are actually adobe, which are large but very porous bricks. For some reason there's no echo, reverb, or any other kind of sound feedback from the walls. What's better is that adobe is a super insulator . . . we've got the best of all worlds here!Don't you get a lot of echo / reverb with all those bare brick walls though?
In reply to:We moved here to Arizona just 3 months ago. Before we were in Florida and the HT was in a 10x12 room, so I know what you mean about crammed space. FWIW though, the small HT worked VERY well, although the big HT is a huge improvement!I'm so used to cramming everything I own into a small space.
In reply to:The previous owner of our house had two other homes, all furnished. He was downsizing his real estate holdings, so talking him into leaving everything behind was a cinch . . . we DID get lucky!I can't believe the previous owner left all those pieces of furniture. Why don't things like that happen to me.
In reply to:The Doris Day autographs I got myself. As for the rest, there's a number of people out there who make a living by chasing down celebrities, getting their autographs, then selling them. Search online for "movie poster autographs", or click here to see offerings on eBay. Note that autographs of deceased celebrities cost a LOT more! How did you get all those autographs?
In reply to:Hi Matt, I'm sending you an E-mail.I live up in PHX and would be interested in hearing these speakers. I have many friends in Tucson. What part of Tucson do you live in?
In reply to:There's an earlier post in this thread (5th message) that talks about sound effects with the hard surfaces. To that I can add that I have slight high frequency hearing loss, so I always turn up the gain on the higher freqs. using my parametric equalizer. So whether the brightness is from my settings or from the walls doesn't matter to me, as this is the way I prefer my sound! What kind of interaction do you get with all of those hard surfaces? Does your system soudn erally bright?
In reply to:I just checked my map and saw that Gilbert is a suburb of Phoenix. I live in Tucson, about 90-100 miles SW of Gilbert.Where abouts are you?
