snip, you may have picked up the info on the 3805 instead of the 2805. The MSRP on the 2805 is $899, not $1199.

Yes, those data are for the 3805. One of the more interesting aspects of the 2805 info is that Denon has apparently corrected the absurd move it made with the 3805 and is including the microphone with the 2805.

Interesting... any idea what street price might actually end up being on this bad boy?

Should be available around $650-$700.

Anyone know what exactly is the difference between the 2805 and the 3805? Besides the obvious which is the watts/channel? They don't have a picture of the rear yet so I don't know what the layout is like. Is the 2805 basically the model that is replacing the 3803?

They are pretty much the same expect the difference in wattage, price, and front end design.

I would say that the 3805 is replacing the 3803, and the 2805 is replacing the 2803...

There is a rear panel pic here, Denon 3805. One pic is available of the Denon 2805 through the brochure (pdf file). The only thing that seems to be different on the rear panels is the lack of Zone 3 on the 2805.

The 2805 does not seem to have the Denon Link for DVD-Audio and SACD, while the 3805 does. Denon is likely going to introduce more DVD players with this feature this summer/fall so I think it is a must for a new reciever.

Whats so great about that connection vs a standard digital one?

curious

It would be for SACD or DVD-A. Theoretically (?) a standard digital connection cannot, for some inscrutable reason, carry a full signal from SACD or DVD-A. I think it's actually a copy protection thing. I would wager that the digital links that get approved for SACD/DVD-A (be they firewire or Denon-link) will have some sort of DRM built in.

Anyone know when the 2805 will be available for sale? I tried to find them on the internet with no success...
