I was going to get a Rotel with B&W speakers. However, I could only afford 1 pair of the 705s for now, and the remaining speakers would have to wait. So, I figured that I might as well look into an alterative first, and the Epic 60/80 seem nice. The Rotel I was looking at is the 1056 (maybe the 1067). Would the Axioms match either of these receivers nicely?

You will find the Rotel is an excellent choice with the Axioms. Also, a couple of us have compared the B&W 703s ($3000) and the Axiom 60s ($800) and found them to be very close in the way they sound. Choosing the Axioms would help fund the Rotel.

JM, welcome. You can never have "too much" receiver. You certainly don't have to spend as much as the 1056 runs to get excellent results with the M60 or M80, but if you want that receiver there's certainly no need to "match" receivers and speakers.

I had the same choice. I auditioned the Rotel 1056 with some B&W 600 floor speakers (not sure what the actual # was) and then decided to go with the Axioms based on favorable comparisons. The Rotel 1056 matches very well with the 60's and is a good alternative to the B&W line of speakers.

I had the RSX1065 with M22/VP150/QS4 and it sounded spectacular.

Hi jmanko,

It depends which day of the week! Kidding. At the factory and among my Axiom colleagues, to mention a few, we have both receivers (Denon, H/K, an older Yamaha) and separate power amplifiers (Denon, Bryston, Yamaha, Outlaw Audio, Atlantic Technology) used with several different A/V processors (Outlaw and a couple of others).

In our listening tests of different Axiom speakers and prototypes, we do not hear differences attributable to different brands of amplifiers (nor should there be any, if they are competently designed). For high-volume/output tests, we do hear differences based on the power output of the amp or receiver when it nears its output limits or clips.

Regards,

I use the Rotel RSP-1066 processor with the Rotel RMB-1075 amp - and LOVE it!

I've often said the M60ti sound very similar to the B&W 700 series tower. (But costs 1/3 the price!)

If you want Rotel, get it. You'll not be dissapointed.
