Anybody have any thoughts on this Fosgate Audionics modular 5 channel amp. I read some impressive things about this product, and I have an opportunity to get it from a local dealer for $1200.00 marked down from $1900.00. It could be a steal if warrenty is still in effect and it has been taken care of. This is a high-end store, no Best Buy where everybody's fooling with the shelf equipment. I've seen this thing online listing for $2700.00-$3000.00.
Just looking for some feedback, plan on running Epic 80 on it.
That beast looks pretty nice:
But where are the heat sinks?
For $1200, that deal seems like a steal. It's even less than the similar but uglier Outlaw 5-channel @200W/ch amp, which is $1299.
Another good value is the Marantz MM9000. It's advertised as 150w x 5, but my owner's manual says 170w x 5. If there are still any around, they can be had for about $750 (original MSRP >$2k). That is the steal of the milennium.

here's a nice pic of the Marantz...sorry - couldn't find a good pic of the black version.
That's a darn good looking amp.
Yes, that Marantz is one good looking AMP!! The heat sinks in the Fosgate are built inside each module. There are 5 separate 200 watt amp modules, and you can reconfigure each channel. Lets say you want to add 2 rear back speakers, then you sacriface one 200 module for a module with 2 100 watt amps, actually you would have to break down 2 modules or you lose a speaker...right? You can configure this thing to have 10 100 watt amps.
Of couse I'm not giving up and any of that head room. That's what they make money for, another 2 channel amp!!
I do like that Marantz though...
