I have the new Denon 3805 and want to know the best way to hookup my DVD player to this receiver to acheive the best video. Both my DVD player, receiver, and TV have component hookup jacks. Which way should I be hooking these things up should I run the component cables from the DVD player to the receiver,if so what would hookup to the tv to get video? or from the DVD player straight to the TV, then what hooks up to the reciever? Thanks

Unless you're running out of component inputs on your t.v., I'd say just run all video components directly from the source to the TV for optimal quality.

The only reason you'd run it to the receiver is if you want to use the receiver as a switch box.

kayizm-

i would suggest that you run the component cables from the dvd/cd player to the receiver, then run them from the receiver to the tv.. i believe that would give you more versatility with hooking up additional video inputs.. i believe the 3805 had up conversion, so it should up-convert all your other signals and send them to the tv thru the component cables.

in addition, unless you have a tv and dvd player that can utilize the progressive scan technonlgy, then the component cables wont really give you a very much improved picture quality than regular s-video. just something to think about.

I will try both of you guys sugguestion and then see which I like better. Big John, if I run the DVD to the receiver, what cables go from the receiver to the TV, and where do I put them? (NEWBIE)

1. Plug your DVD player's component video into one of the component IN ports (set of three, red, green, blue)

2. Plug a component cable (sold sep.) from the receiver's OUT (it's the one on the very right of the component connections) and plug that into the component IN on your TV.

I own a 3805 too and do this and much more :P

looks like daphoid has a 3805.. he should be your right hand man.. his instructions are right on.. use the video 'out', coming from the receiver to the tv..use can use which ever type of cable you want.. the three colored component cable, s-video, or even rca cables(last choice)..

keep us posted on your progress, and pics are mandatory

I have a 3805 also. The 3805 says on the back "monitor out" its in the upper right corner. Use this to run to your TV. Then you can plug in the others anywhere you want of the 3.

Damn, too late!!! Missed the whole Denon 380X fest. You gotta love those things. kayzim - are you hooked up with optical or coax for your DVD audio?

BTW, if any of you guys have a Home Theater Master MX-700, Remote Central has a Pronto file that a guy put together with EVERY Denon receiver code. I've used it to set my 700 up and it is unbelievable what you can accomplish with it.

I currently have an optical with a pair of M80s, QS8s, VP150's and no sub (Apartment) sounding great right about now!! I'm waiting for Denon to come out with a DVD changer in silver or for the 2900 to come down in price.

Denon's new line of DVD players will be out next month. Sit tight and wait. The 2900 will be replaced with the 2910 and it will be 699.00

The information is "confidential" I happen to "find" a sheet about the new dvd players when I bought the D 3805 from a local store here.
