Whenever I get my new reciver...can't WAIT!

I suppose I should consider a new DVD/CD player. At some time or to influence what reciever I get.

I assume the rule of thumb is to match the brands of the two componants?

if this is not so true...let me know why.

if it is the general rule, should I let the CD/DVD influence my reciever purchase or start at the reciever and match the brand..or again not match it?

thanks

BTW this for me would most likely mean a Yammie or Dennon ( i see the Dennon 2200(model?) is doing well on the reviews)

Get something that has the features you want and the appearance you want. Don't bother matching components.

Denon does make some upper end models that use a proprietary Denon digital connection for high resolution multi-channel sources. This is one of the only reasons I can think of to brand match, but then again this is really feature selection.

i guess in some ways this supports my premise in another post...

we hav e $90 cheapy from Wally world

plays everything and video and audio seem fine.

In a lot of ways I think PLAYERS are way overpriced if they can all do basically the same thig.

I don't feel this way so much about recievers though.

But i do wonder as they pack all the features into a $1000 reciever

how much can they take away once they get down to a $200 reciever.

perplexing
