After auditioning many receivers, I purchased the Pioneer Elite 54tx on-line. Considering all the features on the other amps that were equal to or better that I will not use, this was the best choice for me. I will get it next week and solicit advice on whether to get 2 QS8's in the back or 2 2ti, to complete the 7.1 of the 60's fronts, 150 center, and 2qs8 sides. The Denon and Yamaha I sampled sounded great and the Pioneer 55 was terrific also but lacked DolbyIIx which I wanted, thus the 54tx, which has THX and DolbyIIx plus more power but no I-link. Since I will wait on a new TV and DVD that will probably have HDMI, the latest and best connectivity, I could pass on I-link

Great news!

I'm anxious to here your feedback on the 54tx, as that is at the top of my list also, next to the Denon 2805 or Yammy 1400(5790). Can you give me any details as to who your purchased the unit from, I know Pioneer is particular on warranty issues. I've seen some good prices on Ebay from dealers that have been in AV business for 20+ years, however, Pioneer says they do not allow their dealers to sell on Ebay. The local stores won't budge off list...

thanks, Randy

Got my Pioneer 45TX "online" from an authorized dealer. Go to AVS Forum and search for DocDVD.
