Hello,
I currently have an Audax diy 7.1 system that I built in 2002/03. I have moved to a new home and the new basement HT will be much larger than the old HT. The dimensions will be approx 30x17. I am considering replacing the two rear channel speakers with something like the QS8. I'll keep the Audax surronds and L/C/R speakers. The Audax surrounds and rears have 5-1/4" woofs and 1" tweets. I'm using an HK AVR7200 for power. Does anyone see a drawback to this setup? I read somewhere that this type of speaker doesn't have to be a perfect match with the main speakers.

i dont have any experience with the audax brand of speakers you are thinking of, but i can comment on the axioms. the QS8's are best used as a surround speaker, but they have been used as rears before. most people prefer a direct firing speaker for the rears in a 7.1 set-up. so, with that in mind, i would think you might be better off with the M2ti or M3ti as your rears.

the QS8's are awesome speakers.. you might wanna consider using them for surrounds, and using your audax speakers for rears. just my opinion.

Thanks for the quick reply. Not having any experience with bi-pole or quad-polar speakers, I wasn't sure about placement. Thanks.
