I am looking at moving my Outlaw 1050 upstairs to drive my Rocket 750's. I was going to get a dedicated two channel but thought that the 1050 could be moved and that way I can upgrade. With that in mind I have been looking at the 950/7100 or 755 from Outlaw. I have also read a lot about the reviews of the Denon 3805 or the 2805. All the systems are in my budget but I wanted to get the feedback of the forum before pulling the trigger. The new system will drive my M60's, LFM sub, BG center and the QS4's.

Any thoughts?

I can't say much about the Outlaw (Don't really know anything other then what I have read) but the 3805 is a very nice unit. If I ever go goofy on seperate power amps I would have no hesitation in using it as a pre only.

L7, in my view it would definitely be the better move to put the 1050 upstairs rather than getting a two channel amp or receiver. It will work even better driving only two speakers, and its features, while getting somewhat dated, are still more complete than most of the two channel items that you could get.

Then, for your HT system, I'd suggest that either of the Denons that you mention have better features than the Outlaw equipment and would be a better choice.

I did read that the 2805 and the 3805 are the exact same item. The 3805 has some very SLIGHT differences and has a slight power edge but is it worth the cost?

L7, you might be thinking of a couple of occasions when I pointed out that the 985 is identical to the 2805(except it's only in silver). The 3805 does have some differences and this chart compares them. Do your own evaluation, of course, but in my view the differences are minor and the 2805 is more cost-effective, especially since the microphone is included, while it's about $60 extra for the 3805.
