Just got my 60's yesterday....WOW...love the new clarity I am hearing!!!

I didn't know these had the capability of bi-wiring or amping. What does each do...bi-wiring and bi amping?

Does by wiring meaning splitting the signal out of ONE receiver and running wires to both sets of inputs on the back of the speaker?

I have never had a speaker w/ this option, so any info would be appreciated!!!

Does anyone here bi wire or bi amp? Is the sound improvement worth it?

If bi wiring, it sounds as if you simply split the + and - out of the receiver and input them on the speaker. Meaning, Left + gets split, and then goes into + on BOTH inputs for the left speaker. And same for -, then repeat for the right speaker...correct? Does this really improve the sound? I would think bi-amping would be better.

That said, bi amping, do you use 1 amp for each speaker... to drive bass/treble for the left speaker, then another amp to drive the bass/treble for the right? OOORRR do you use 1 amp to drive the bass on left and right speaker, then 1 amp to drive treble for left and right speaker?

Once again, anyone doing this, and does it improve the sound alot? Just curious. I don't even have any pre-outs on my current received, BUT...now that I know I have capability to bi-amp, always fun to dream towards future upgrades.

Bi-wiring sells more cable.
Check the electronic theory behind it, that What Hi-Fi? article says bass swamps the delicate treble in the cables, which sorry, Virginia - seems plausible but just doesn't happen. Bass isn't a bully and treble isn't a 98 pound weakling. For proof, look at any professional install (I mean pro audio - not boutique HT) - I've yet to see a biwired install in a professional situation. The closest I've seen is keeping a backup cable from a snake "hot" with signal just in case of cable failure for a quick swap-out.

Bi-amping however, has a use. If your amplification section is insufficient, you can buy another insufficient amp and split up the load a bit. Most of us would just buy an amp that had better handling, however.

Even Axiom themselves have admitted here (quite a while back) that the only reason the big towers are capable of bi-wiring is because of consumer demand. Big speakers have 4 terminals - customers like to see it.

So bacially, when I go to upgrade my receiver (Onkyo TXDS-555), get a receiver w/ a nice amp in it already and don't worry about bi amping and definitely don't worry about bi-wiring.

BUT, stick my chest out and make sure to tell people I have the capabilities to bi-amp if I choose to!!!!!

BTW...it says right in the "manual" that comes with the speakers that the bi-wiring option is totally due to customer demand. (At least it did in mine, they may have changed since then)

I didn't realize that the M60 could be biamped either. Interesting to see this right after seeing an article on how to use the extra 2 channels of amplification on my Denon 3805 to biamp your main speakers!

I have tried bi-amping 3805 with its extra channels before. I would say that I can hear the difference as it sounds better, but not much. Now I don't bi-amp as it also introduces the noise and it's annoying .
