I am looking to purchase a pair of M22TIs for the fronts and a VP150 for a center. I am not really sure if I should get another set of M22TIs for the surrounds, or go with the QS-8s. The biggest problem I am facing is the placement of the surrounds. My only option is to place the surrounds at the top of the rear wall due to the placement of my windows. This room is aprox. 15x15 with 10 ft ceilings. I guess my question is am I better to go with the QS-8s or the MI22TIs. Which speaker would sound better at this height.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hello Ptrpaul,

Usually QS-8 Quadpolar surrounds are more amenable to easy placement in problematic locations. I prefer multipolar radiators because they typically deliver an excellent sense of envelopment even when mounted at uneven levels in a non-ideal location (my own setup typifies this).

On the other hand, larger spaces like yours are often more accepting of direct-radiating surrounds. I'd still choose the QS-8s but perhaps some Axiom buyers have had experience putting M22ti's at the rear in a surround role. Any comments out there??

I have Mt80s for fronts, VP150 as my center and M22's as rear surrounds. My room is pretty accomodating(30X20), so I have ample room to move them around. The sound is absolutely fantastic, although I did have to play with placement and positioning quite a bit to get my desired results. I'm completely safisfied.

Alan,

I have the M60s and VP150. I am contemplating whether to buy M3's for the sorrounds or the QS8's. I have a 15X10X9 room. I also see that there is a significant difference in the price between M3 and QS8. I just want to know if anyone is using M3s for rears and how they would fare against QS8s.

Regards...
