For those that have this receiver (if any) can you tell me how loud you can turn it up to after set up. My average listening level is -45 to -35db...but cranking the movies it gets as loud as -15 to -10db...max is like 6db, correct...just wondering coz these babies do sound GOOD

Ok, how bout all you guys with the newer receivers (yammies, denon and pioneer) Where do you typically have your volume set when listening to music/movies? I am assumming most newer receivers go from -80 to 10db on the volume???

I'm like Bray, I have the 2805, which is an awesome piece of technology, anyway it depends on the movie and cd track but generally I'm at Movies -25 to -15 and Music -35 to -10 depending when the wife is home or not....

thanks bray, now i dont feel like I was doing something wrong last night....

These new speakers rule M60ti, VP150, QS8s even in a non-optimal setting and environment.

When I first got my 2805 I was worried because nothing was coming out of the speakers. So I turned it up a little and I could faintly hear sound. Then I noticed that this thing defaults to like -60 or something when you first turn it on, which confused me at first since I had been away from the AV scene for a few years. This new technology is quite differant from the old days. Anyway, once I got in the -40 to -20 range, it was a differant story. Haven't tried treading into the +db range yet as I'm waiting for my wife to go to the mall shopping for that, then look out...

Holy crap, I must be deaf. For music I have my Denon 884 at -15- -12 and movies at -8 - -2!

Exactly what i was thinking, Sirquack. My old Sony just used a dial with a red light on the volume dial. So, I rarely ventured up past "half way" on the dial. So, for me, the new -80 to 10db is weird. But, if Im just like the rest of these good peeps, I feel better. I was watching Open Range (thanks Steve) in DTS at -10db and even though my sub isnt in the best spot, i thought i was at a gun range....man, what a difference in sound! Thanks you guys for all your recommendations!!

Harman/Kardon 525
Music -50->-25 (depending on wife home status/where I am in the house)
Movies/TV -30->-20

You're not crazy.

Yep, that open range gun scene is pretty awesome, I thought bullets were traveling right through me. I'm still playing around with my sub volume and receiver crossover/dB level settings to fine tune things.

I believe my 2805 auto setup and room eq has my mains at +7, center at +6, and my sub at -5db... the surrounds are at like +6 or so...

My MCACC set my fronts at 5.5 my rears at 3.0 and my center at 2, sub at -2.0...i changed it all to fronts 7.5, rears 5.5, center 4.5 and sub at 1.0. The original setting just seemed to soft for my taste....the new levels sound more powerful and rich....

where do most people have the volume on their subs set? Currently I have it at 1/2 volume, on my EP350.

Got my sub moved around doing the little crawl test....its in the second best spot...right side of TV in the corner (hidden behind audio rack). Now the neighbors can really hear/feel me.
