Looking to maybe replace my m-22 speaks. These are my room dimensioms. 8'Hx17.5'Lx14.5'w. The speakers would go on one end of the 14.5w walls. Listening position at about 10 feet or so. I could only place the m80s a foot to 18" off the wall. I currently have a set of m22s and a stf2 upstairs that I could move to my newly completed room. What do you recommend?

overkill is a tough word.. everyone has different tastes, and different volume levels in which they like to listen to music. i would say that if you are into BLASTING the stereo, then by all means, get the M80's. just keep in mind that they are a 4ohm load, so make sure that you have a receiver/amp that can properly push them.

I pondered this exact same debate, 80s or 60s, my room is also not big. For that sized room I can't imagine wanting any more speaker than the 60s. I run mine, with a Yamaha 1500, 120 w.p.c. amp, and the 22s, QS8s, 150 when in HT mode, and it will flat out rock the place. I now have (3) subs, so that is a big part of it. I listen to music pretty darn loud at times, and the 60s play loud, clean. The 80s are 2" taller, with 1 additional 5-1/2 midrange, and 1 more 1" tweeter. but the woofers are identical, and the cabinet is almost the same. I am not knocking the 80s, they are a step up. I just think with that room the 60s would be MORE than enough. I was going with the 80s, and the "honesty" of Joe at Axiom convinced me the 60s fit my situation better.

I have a room that is 21x14x8 and I have (4) M80ti and I am using them for HT, SACD & DVD-A and they rock. I don't think they are overkill and my room isn't that large. I think overkill is in the eyes of the beholder.

I assume you are using the m-80s as front and rears? I wasn't saying NOT to get the 80s, just that the 60s would not be a disappointment.

I agree, M60's would do the job very well.

Man! 4 M80 , 4 Qs8 & a vp150 ?? That's 27 woofers moving at the same time! ...not counting the sub. pictures please

I also agree that with the size of the room you've got that the M-60's would be more ideal. I'd imagine that the M-80's in a room that size wouldn't have enough of a chance to breathe or "open up" to their full capability. I don't have the exact dimensions of my room, but I'm barely able to sit 10 feet back from my 60's, which is where I feel they sound best. I thought I had read that the 80's ideal sitting position was about 12 feet away, but maybe someone else could chime in on that. Alan?

Can someone tell me how to post pictures? I was able to figure out how to post avatar, but I am not familiar with posting pictures to the message board.

go to photobucket.com, and open an account.. it is free, and takes about 2 minutes. then, upload your photos to your photobucket account, then post them on here.. thats it..

you will notice when you upload the pics to photobucket, undrneath the pic, it will have several options to post the pick.. one will be an html, one a jgpfile, etc.. just highlight the line 'tag' line file, and then cut and paste it here, and the picture should be there..

give it a shot..

Don't forget that you have to use the html tags of:
[image]EXAMPLEofIMAGEURLhere[/image]

Without any spaces, it's:
bracket; the word "image"; close bracket", then the URL of the image (as explained above), then "bracket; the forward slash symbol and the word "image"; close bracket".

Mark, If you just highlight, copy and paste the "Img" line, you don't need to add the [image] before, and the [/image] after. It's already there. I think the same holds true for the "Tag" line.

Yup! It does.

yes, you can just cut and paste the "tag" line, and it will be there..
