Anyone use theirs as surrouns. I am thinking of getting some m60s for the front channels and use the 22s in the rear. I only have a 5.1 setup. Would the qs line work better? I have a buddy that would snatch up the 22s. Also heard a set of athena techs and for the money they are very good. I would say in the ballpark of axioms. What are your opinions? Krazy

I use the QS series speakers for surrounds, and cannot praise them enough. They're terrific. If you watch a lot of movies, I think the QS speakers can't be beat for an immersing theater experience. They also do very well in DSP surround modes, as well.

However, there are those here who prefer direct radiating speakers, like the 22s, as surrounds.

I would go with the QS series. You are really taking about two differing speakers here. The QS series will fill the room a better for the application you are shooting for. I am not a big fan of using the M22's as a directed rear speaker.
WhatFurrer uses M22's as surrounds, and likes them very much.

I think your strategy depends largely on whether you value purist multi-channel audio or home theatre more.

I'm with Jack on this - I have tried in vain to find something lacking in the QS8's. Even with music, they're the cat's pajamas.

I'm sure that some do use the M22's, I just do not like the sound it produces compared to the QS series.
