Gents, I just made my purchases and decided to go with M60, V150, and QS8s for my HK. Thanks to all for the advice.

I audition the Paradigms yesterday and I wasn't satisified. I tested the HK with my friends M80s and it was really a nice match.... nice clear and warm sound compared to the paradigms. But I ordered the M60s so as not to put much load on my HK. Plus I would like to save a bit of money to get the SVS subs.... in the future.

Thanks to all who helped... and in a week here I'd be opening my axiom speake packages.... sweet.

If anyone will still push me to get the M80s, I can still be convinced and call Axiom to change my orders....

Let's be claer on the HK - it will easily drive your setup with either M60s or M80s. Not an issue.

The M60s are excellent speakers and the M80s simply give you more at the top end. The M60s wil do fine unless you have an extremely large room and you can apply the $$ saved to a handsome SVS sub. That takes care of the logic part.

if you simply WANT the M80s, no reason to not get them unless your room is small (12x14 or less). The upgrade itch and the "what if" itch can never be fully scratched!!! If either will be a problem for you, now is the time to do something to avoid it. Next we must consider how important bragging rights are to you.

You will, however, find that the M60s are all you really need.

I always feel funny when I say it, but...

Axiom staff have interjected on a number of occasions that the M60 and M80 "sound" very similar, and that the main difference is the M80's ability to play louder and fill a larger space. IF you have a very large room AND you want reference volumes, you might prefer the M80. I have the M60 in a large room (13x26 with sloped ceilings to 17', and opening to other large spaces). I find the M60 with a SVS PB12-ISD to be very satisfying.

He must have great powers of illusion, because any hottub was completely invisible to me when I visited... although I didn't go upstairs...

No hot tub, but I can run some hot water in the laundry tubs in the basement for ya. How's that?
