my 51" RPTV is in the corner. tonight I moved my STF-1 behind it. it's tight, but it fits. I have better bass with the sub in the corner and it's nice to have it out of the way. is it going to mess up my picture? I swear it looks more fuzzy now, is it all in my mind?

If the huge magnetic field doesn't the deep bass will definitely shake the heck out of something. If it where me, I would reconsider.

Good Luck.

I'd agree with this. The CRTs for the RPTV are located at the bottom of the cabinet, which puts them really close to the magnetic field of the subwoofer.

However, if you don't notice any bad alignment issues, any difference could be in your head. Do you have an A/V calibration DVD that you could use to display calibration patterns on your TV? That would tell you definitively whether or not the sub was interfering with your picture. Look for fuzzy lines and convergence issues (RGB not lining up properly).

Personally, I'd keep the sub as far from the RPTV as possible; still, if that is the only option you have, and if you like the arrangement, then why not. However, be prepared to adjust the convergence often. Good luck!

Use DVE or AVIA to display the gun solid colors on your display, i.e. red, green and blue. If the magnetic field is interfering you should see discoloration in one or more of these screens.

I still wouldn't do it though - depending on how much bass you put out and how loud you listen you could damage the guns from the vibration. Remember that they are filled with liquid and made of glass. This is another reason I don't mind having the sub in the back corner of the room - just to be safe. Besides, really the sub should have some room to breathe.

I, in the early days of subwoofer placement, tried right next to my tv and it shook the heck out of my picture. I noticed distortion from it. Needless to say, it didn't stay there long.
