I am still playing with different (ie less expensive ) combinations. I have decided to definitely go with the M60s. But what about using an M22 as the center instead of a VP100? Again, the VP150 would probably be great, but a little too expensive for me. Is a vertical M22 a better option? Listening position about 8' from the center channel speaker. Medium sized room with a 15'-17' ceiling. I should also note that the speaker would have to be below the tv and about one foot in front.

As long as you can keep the M22 vertical I think it would be great. If you have to lie it on its side, you'll be better off with a symmetrical speaker like the VP100.

An M22 may have a smaller sweet spot than a VP100, but I do not neccessarily know for sure. It would be something you would need to try out for yourself.

If you cant afford the VP100 now, why even bother with an M22? Just enjoy stereo for now and upgrade to the Vp150 later like you rreally want to. You will be a happier person not having to deal with the dreaded upgradeitis.

Good idea. As long as the receiver handles "phantom center" operation (routing center information to the mains if you tell receiver "no center speaker") that would work fine. The M60s can carry the center information very well, just don't put them TOO far apart.

If you need a wider "sweet spot" immediately then one option would be a single M2, then move it to the back for 6.1 when you get your VP150.
