I'm in the process of researching some floorstanders and centers. I really don't want to pay shipping to send back axioms just to audition them.

So like my title said is there anyone in the qc area that has a set that I could listen to? There is one user who lives in west des moines but thats a 3 hr drive for me.
Yeah that guy never replied to my PM's and I asked Amie if he should still be on the list, he hasn't posted forever either.

Anyway, I'm in the Des Moines area also, but haven't added my name to the list yet, as I'm in the middle of remodeling my basement. I do have everything upstairs right now crowded in our livingroom. "Nickbuol", is another guy that lives over here with me, but he is remodeling also. Not sure if he plans to add his name to the list yet or not. There is one other guy, in Des Moines also that I just talked into buying Axioms, not sure if he plans to audition.

I'm familiar with the QC area. It sounds like you've checked the "Audition" post. If your ever in my neck of the woods, you can PM me.

They look like good "bang for the buck" type speakers. I also like the look of them. I'm gonna audition some different speakers at ultimate electronics tommorrow.

Kinda sucks there aren't stores that sell BIC, Axiom, and Energy in my area to audition. I can find Polk, Klipsch, JBL, and Infinity in my area.
I was in your same position 6-8 months ago. I can tell you I auditioned B&W(703's), Paradigm, NHT, and Klipsch, and also have been a former Infinity and Polk owner, and I am 199% satisfied with my purchase. The fit and finish and sound these produce are unbelievable. I'm not trying to promote a price increase, but Axiom really could charg more if they wanted, but since they deal directly to their customer base, and not through retail chains, they are able to sell at a better value.

The problem with listening to speakers at Ultimate, Best Buy, American, etc.... is that it is not a true test for what it will sound like in a home environment. Also, in most cases they don't have the receivers/speakers calibrated to the listening room... In my experience at Ultimate, the salesman could not figure out how to get the systems working, and they didn't have the receivers delay, levels, bass mgmt. etc. even set up...
I'd invite you over, but like Sirquack said, I am remodeling my basement too. Plus, like you mentioned, you are about 2.5 hours away from me (I've driven the Des Moines to Quad Cities trek many times, 3 hours from Sirquack is about right, but I am bout 25 minutes closer)...

My family lives back in Dubuque which is only an hour away from you, but I don't have space in our vehicle to pack up my speakers AND get all of my family's "stuff" (wife and 2 daughters, so they pack a LOT of "stuff") when we go back for Easter or a couple weeks after that, sorry....

I ended up buying my setup without ever hearing them. It was a little nerve racking, but I am very happy with the setup that I have. If you keep reading around the internet, you will see that these speakers have won awards all over the place, and reviews are good too. You might have to take a leap of faith like I did, but it does ease your mind if you can actually hear them first, so I can sympathize with you there.

I don't remember her name, but I thought we had a poster who lives in Davenport with M60s? Kinda frustrated that I can't recall her name...

Iowa. I grew up there (sw of Davenport near Walcott). Is it still too damn hot and too damn cold?

Yeah it's still either too hot or too cold here. Actually we're at the time of the year when it isn't too bad for weather. Thanks for the replys. I'm sure I would be happy with an axiom purchase but if I hear say a $500 pair of speakers that sound about as good as the $700 pair then I would rather get the cheaper pair.
