Should I set the Yamaha to 6ohm for these speakers or leave it at 8?

Magre,You should leave it at 8 ohm.Your receiver should have no problem with the VP 150 or the QS 8s.

if u put it to 6 it will limit the current to the speaker and the switch is there to pass some regulatory stuff that someone mentioned that i know nothing about.

leave it at 8 to get maximum performance.

remember, a speaker will be given an ohm rating, but it's an average rating and actually varies across the sound spectrum. A 6 ohm speaker can, for example, go from 2 ohms to 30 ohms, depending on what frequency it is playing. if you look at measurement graphs here, you'll see what i mean:
