resistors to balance speakers in 5.1 setup? - 06/15/05 08:43 PM
I have an old onkyo receiver. When I play dvds I can adjust the dvd palyer to have the center/dialogue as high as I need. But with videos, and the receiver on dolby movie or some such setting I seem to have no control over how loud the speakers are. The dialogue is almost lost unless I turn the volume up and then crashes or music blast me away (almost Maxell ad ferocity).
Part of the problem is that I am using an M2 as my center with M22s for front left and right. The M2 is harder to drive. The Onkyo receiver seems to not have individual speaker adjustment for volume, but only for distance away.
Anyone have a suggestion? I could set it on stereo - but there will be no surround then, obviously. Is there a resistor one can put in between the M22s and the receiver without degrading the sound? Anyone familiar with the Onkyo TX-SR501? I could try all the surround settings but would rather get some info/advice before plodding through all that.
Thanks
