Hello all,
I need a center channel speaker and am thinking about the VP150. All the reviews I've seen say it is a great speaker for the price. How does it sound regardless of the price? I recently listened to the $750 B&W center (I for get the model #) and it was WAY better than anything else in the store. The center chanel is an important speaker for movies. How does the VP150 compare to a speaker twice its price??

Thanks for your opinions.

I have owned both the VP100 & the VP150 and found them both to be very good centers. I'm not running either one of them now only because I needed to match my fronts but they are both very good center channels none the less.

Are they the best I have heard? probably not. That honor goes to the top of the line Paradigm. For me at least it was as close to being the perfect center channel I guy would want.

However with that being said, the difference between the Paradigm, Axiom or even the Monitor Audio I have now are subtle to say the least. I'm of the school that says your fronts should match. If you have Axiom for your mains, get an Axiom center channel.

I auditioned the B&W line before I bought my Axioms. I am very happy with the VP150.

Matching fronts will be tough for me. I have A/D/S L1290's which I love. If my house burned down, they'd be the toy I'd miss most.

The best speaker I own is my Polk CSi5 center channel. I don't have an Axiom center, but it is a significantly better speaker than my M22s - and I don't remember reading that about either of the Axiom centers. I paid the full retail price ($489 ... I know, I know) but you should be able to find one to listen to (Circuit City carries them) and if you like it you shouldn't have to pay retail. With that being said, I have no idea how it would stack up against the B&W.

Like Bugbitten, I auditioned against B&W, as well as NHT, Paradigm, and Klipsch. I ended up with an all Axiom system, and I really like the VP150.

good luck
