i have to say, these are brilliant! you get 5.1 dvd-a on one side, which i play at home, and CD on the other side which you can copy and play in the car. I hated the fact that i couldn't burn my standard dvd-a's, now i don't have to worry about it. Brilliant!!! if you guy's have yet to purchase one of these definately go and pick up a few. just don't go to strawberrys as they will charge you about 10$ more than any record store on earth, hate those guy's.

my recomendation: the new NIN, sounds brilliant!!!

As long as they work for you...I haven't run into this, but I have heard that they have problems playing in some players.

My understanding is that different discs offer different media.

While yours has a DVD-A side with the tradional CD (An idea I wholeheartedly applaud!), most dualdiscs just have some music videos on the other side.... of far less interest to me but likely much more interest to many.

Yep, and evidently the Sony CDP-CX355 300 disc player is one of them. I recently purchased AC/DCs 'Back In Black' dual disc and it will not play in either of my CX355 300 disc units.

Works just fine in the OEM Ford radio in the truck and is playing in the run of the mill (Sony) home dvd player (both dvd and music-sides) but I don't think the music sounds as well as the cd players. Been thinking about the Denon 2910 dvd player, wonder if the cd side would sound much better through the Denon?

Yes, not DualDiscs all are 5.1 DVD-A, such as AC/DC's Back In Black and many others. But they are usually a high-res stereo. The recent Foo Fighters is a 2-disc set...one disc is high-res stereo, the other is 5.1 (not sure if it is high-res or not!).

And I make a copy of the CD side...so I can transport it from house to car, without worrying about scratches.

Unfortunately, many of the Dual Discs are made by Sony, so no his-res, maybe 5.1 if lucky. I almost bought the Foo Fighters dual disc until I read the package and saw that only the accoustic cd was 5.1 and the rock cd was "enhanced stereo". I saved $7 and bought the regular CD for $9.99.

just puchased the Our Lady Peace dual disk.. it is my first dual disk so I have nothing to compare it to.

The dvd side was PCM stereo and not 5.1

It does sound great though and the album is worth getting.
